Introduction

The Association of Asian and Pacific Arts Festivals (AAPAF) was inaugurated on 19 June 2004 in Singapore. The Association is a network of Festivals which aims to promote Asian Pacific arts and artists through the exchange of information, knowledge, expertise and establishing a framework for collaboration and commission of new works. The Founding Festival Members are the China Shanghai International Arts Festival, the Singapore Arts Festival, the Hong Kong Arts Festival, and the Jakarta International Arts Festival (JakArt).

Objectives

AAPAF was established with the objectives to:
  • Promote international co-operation between Asian Pacific festivals and other similar organisations
  • Support the development and promotion of artists and festival organisations in Asian Pacific region
  • Facilitate and create opportunities for co-operation in artistic productions and operational fields
  • Encourage the exchange of experience and knowledge among Members
  • Coordinate training programmes and seminars for the betterment of Members' activities
  • Collect and make available information and statistical data to Members and external  organisations
  • Represent the common interests of Members in their dealings with public and private institutions in both national and international fields

Executive Council

An Executive Council undertakes the general conduct of AAPAF's operations, and is supported by the Secretariat. The Executive Council is elected for a period of three years, and the Secretariat is based in the office of the current Chair. Current members of the Executive Council are:

The AAPAF logo is inspired by the bamboo to represent Asian Pacific region and to reflect the strength, grace, beauty and uniqueness of the Asian and Pacific culture.
